HAVELSAN has gained significant experience in the area of information technologies for railway industries with the Corporate Resource Management (KKY), the Flexible Cost-Based Tariff (MATRIS) and the Electronic Passenger Ticket System (EYBIS) developed for the Turkish State Railways (TCDD).
In the light of these experiences and organizational capabilities, HAVELSAN A.Ş. aims to play a critical role in the information infrastructure enhancements of the National Train project that is expected to be a national pride for Turkey. Various R&D activities have also been initiated within our program on this subject and studies are rapidly underway. Started as an R&D project in cooperation with the Turkish Airlines Teknik A.Ş., the wireless in-flight entertainment system (IFE) project has enabled our program to expand towards the civil aviation market. Well before the completion of the IFE project, marketing and R&D activities in various areas considered strategic, such as the on‐going wired IFE, renewal of the aircraft tower communication system, the IFE for railway systems have been initiated. The following engineering capabilities of the Office of Deputy Director General of Information and Security Technologies are employed for these activities.
Development of Framework Software
Java, .NET and C++ based software frameworks are being developed by using up-to-date software technologies and corporate information systems are also being developed on these frameworks.
Customization and Development of the Corporate Information System
Business processes needed to be addressed within automation are analyzed in a customer environment. Higher value-added solutions that simplify daily life for both upper management and end-user personnel are created. Based on the needs of the organization, an analysis is conducted, a KKY package is customized and/or a new corporate-specific information system is developed to meet their requirements. 
Mobile Software Development
Mobile software development activities are conducted for iOS and android platforms using mobile technologies to enhance customer satisfaction and reach larger target groups. These activities include both multi-layered projects and stand-alone mobile applications.
Development of Human‐Machine Interface
Human‐machine interface software is being developed enabling usage and operation of KKYs we have developed for our customers over platforms such as tablets, handheld terminals and kiosks.
Compliance of Software with Quality Standards; all engineering processes of software suitable for the intended use by our customer that is affordable  and timely-delivered at an acceptable level of failure and for which maintenance can be given, are applied in accordance with the following standards:

Multimedia Player
High-performance and high-resolution systems offering seamless video streaming on various platforms (Android, iOS, Web) are being developed. Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions are offered in order to ensure security of video transfer and storage. National Wireless In-Flight Entertainment System project has been initiated as an R&D activity in 2013 under the Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed between HAVELSAN and THY Technics. The Wireless In-Flight Entertainment System is a new generation entertainment system that requires minimum structural modification in the aircraft and is installed very quickly.
The project aims at service provision to personal electronic devices via onboard wireless (Wi-Fi) access. In this context, services such as video, music, games, maps, flight information and connection flight information will be provided to the passengers. Software and hardware compatible with DO-178B and DO-254 standards are currently being developed for the system, and application for the Civil Aviation Certificate of Airworthiness has been made in June 2014. The system is scheduled to undergo flight tests by September 2014 and be placed on the market as a commercial product as of November 2014.
